NewsRadio is an American television sitcom that aired on NBC from 1995 to 1999, focusing on the work lives of the staff of an AM news station. It had an ensemble cast featuring Dave Foley, Stephen Root, Andy Dick, Joe Rogan, Maura Tierney, Vicki Lewis, Khandi Alexander, and of course, Phil Hartman. It would go on to have many special guests like Saturday Night Live's Norm Macdonald, Frasier's Bebe Neuwirth, Mr.Show's Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Brian Posehn, and of course later due to unfortunate circumstances Phil Hartman's best friend Jon Lovitz would take over for him after his untimely death.

The series was created by executive producer Paul Simms, and was filmed in front of a studio audience at CBS Studio Center and Sunset Gower Studios. The show's theme tune was composed by Mike Post, who also scored the pilot.

NewsRadio is based around our main character Dave Nelson, who has just moved in from Wisconsin to work in the busy city of New York, to find work as the news director of the ever so bustling WNYX NewsRadio Station, the second best radio station in New York City. The radio station happens to be owned by the filthy rich eccentric billionaire Jimmy James. Making himself at home in his new job, he meets an ambitious and feisty news reporter Lisa Miller, who thinks she's getting his job. He also meets an incompetent lazy but very charming assistant Beth, a dimwitted emotional reporter Matthew Brock, and of course, the face of the station and main news anchor with a bombastic ego, the ever arrogant, Bill McNeal.

Due to behind the scenes casting troubles, the actor for Greg from the original Pilot, the feisty electrician Joe Garrelli prototype, who was originally played by Ray Romano was replaced with Joe Rogan. The actress who originally played the sassy, smart, and charming Catherine Duke, Ella Joyce, was replaced with Khandi Alexander.
